Title: Mustard, Condiment Of Faith
Tags:
Blog Entry: There are two absolute truths about faith and mustard. Faith is universally symbolized by the mustard seed and mustard a byproduct of that seed is one of the most used condiments and the hardest stain to remove from clothes..... The mustard seed is put through a grueling cooking process involving hours of marinating, processing in mixers with variances of sweet and sour ingredients being added. This process can represent the development of faith in our lives. God gives to every man a measure of faith (Romans 12:3) and through our lives we marinate on His words; we are put through the mixers and broken down and have sweet and sour experiences in life that eventually make us into who we are and nurtures the seed of faith planted by God. .... I hear some people say certain things in their lives have caused them to lose their faith, but if you compare faith to its finished product mustard it is impossible to lose it. Like the stain it is virtually impossible to remove, if God gives you a measure the only thing that can happen is either its growth or it lays dormant inside you. Another illustration he set before them, saying: “The kingdom of the heavens is like a mustard grain, which a man took and planted in his field; which is, in fact, the tiniest of all the seeds, but when it have grown it is the largest of the vegetables and becomes a tree,(Matthew 13:31-32 NWT). .... Even in its smallest form the seed we have the power to move mountains (Matt. 17:20), if we could only grasp the concept of pure and unadulterated faith we would be powerful beyond measure. We would know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God was in complete control of every situation and therefore wouldn’t have the need to fear the future, and probably put doctors out of business because we wouldn’t have to struggle with all these mental repercussions due to lack of. .... Today if you’re struggling with a lack of faith it’s time to “Let go and let God.” There is nothing that you in yourself can do, it is out of your hands so give it to your heavenly Father and be prepared to get your socks knocked off. God loves when His children give Him the chance to show up and show off. He delights in using an impossible situation and foolish things to confound the wise (1 Corinth. 1:27). --- Nina Cox.... .. .. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. --- Akeelah and the Bee (2006)....
